Create a interval variable for your Date char and assign it to some dummy KF, to enable user entry variable.

Convert your Date field into KF by creating a Formula Variable-->Replacement Path

I don't know if I did your instructions right but can't get the right values..=(

I entered 20131001 - 20131009 in the CALDAY variable and tried to show the DATE KF but the result is:

Date (Monthly)          Customer          Rebate               DATEKF

201310                      A                                                       20131001

Did I miss something?
